James has worked as a teaching artist with the California Theatre Center, San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, and Dragon Productions Theatre Company. As a teaching artist he specializes in teaching movement for the actor, Shakespeare, and stage combat. He has directed students in two productions of "A Midsummer Night's Dream," and choreographed fights for Midsummer and "Romeo and Juliet." He also taught improvisation and utilized distance learning to teach film acting and Shakespeare to high school students during the COVID-19 pandemic.
